Tales From the Cupcake Trials


Coffee Cupcake w/ Sambuca Buttercream

So we decided that we would try a new flavor every day this week. Ya know, trying to see what works and what doesn't. Thus far, everything is working! I mean you really cannot go wrong with alcohol, sugar, and more alcohol! I had never tried Sambuca but, Brian promised that it would be a great combination with coffee. We tried a great Kenyan blend coffee cupcake and made a Sambuca based buttercream. It was wonderful! The licorice flavor from the Sambuca really did make a great combination with the coffee We coated some of the coffee beans with chocolate and used it as a garnish. I have to admit the chocolate covered coffee bean adds a really nice bite!

Testing....Testing....1,2,3

So we have our vision and our company name and a blog (stickers coming soon), but we're just in the testing phase of the cupcakes. We made a very successful batch of guinness cupcakes with cocoa/baileys irish cream filling and baileys irish cream buttercream frosting just in time for St. Patty's day. We have plenty of bottles of liquor and endless ideas for our drunken cupcakes. You may see a 99 bananas cupcake. You might see a sambuca or grand marnier cupcake. You may also see a margarita cupcake or an amaretto sour cupcake. You may see all of them. Who knows? We do know that the possibilities are endless though and we're excited about all the time we'll be spending creating smashcakes.
